Delete your HANJI account and data

HANJI

Effective date: 2026-10-12

You only have an account on our server if you signed in

Every learning feature in HANJI works without signing in. We store an account and a copy of your progress on our server only if you signed in with Google or Apple, and you can delete them at any time using the steps below.

If you have never signed in, there is no account on our server to delete. Your learning history is on your device only, so see Erase the data left on your device below. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Method 1. Delete your account in the app — immediate

Recommended

  • Open the HANJI app and go to the Me tab at the bottom.
  • Under Account & Sync, tap Delete account.
  • In the confirmation dialog, tap Delete account again.
  • Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
  • If the app says your session has expired, sign in again and then delete.
  • Deleting your account leaves the progress on this device in place, so you can keep using the app without signing in. To erase it from the device too, follow Erase the data left on your device below.

Method 2. Request deletion by email — if you cannot use the app

Email [email protected] with the details below. We will delete the account within 30 days and reply to confirm.

  • Subject: [HANJI account deletion request]
  • The sign-in method you used (Google or Apple)
  • That account's email address — if you used Apple's "Hide My Email", the relay address of the form …@privaterelay.appleid.com

To confirm it is you, please send the email from that account's email address.

What is deleted

  • Data
  • What happens

Account details — sign-in provider (Google/Apple), provider account identifier, email, display name

Permanently deleted immediately

The copy of your progress backed up on our server

Permanently deleted immediately

Sign in with Apple link (if you signed in with Apple)

Our server asks Apple to revoke the token, disconnecting HANJI

Google sign-in link (if you signed in with Google)

The app revokes HANJI's access to your Google account

If you requested deletion by email, or the link was not removed, you can remove it yourself. Google — in Google Account › Your connections to third-party apps & services, choose HANJI › delete all connections. Apple — on iPhone, Settings › [your name] › Sign-In & Security › Sign in with Apple › HANJI › Stop Using.

What is kept

  • After your account is deleted we keep no personal data about you. Server logs and backups hold only a random internal ID that cannot be traced to you — never your email or name — and are cycled out within 30 days.
  • Anonymous usage statistics (collected only if you turned them on; off by default) are recorded under a random install ID that was never linked to any account, so they cannot be found and deleted as a particular account's records. They are destroyed once no longer needed for their purpose of improving the app. To stop future collection, go to the Me tab › Privacy › turn off Share anonymous usage data; records not yet sent are also deleted from your device.

Erase the data left on your device

If you never signed in, or after you delete your account, your progress and settings remain on your device. Uninstalling the app erases all of it.

Android — Settings › Apps › HANJI › Uninstall. To keep the app but wipe its data, go to Settings › Apps › HANJI › Storage › Clear storage; the app returns to its first-launch state.

iOS — press and hold the app on the Home Screen and choose Delete App, or go to Settings › General › iPhone Storage › HANJI › Delete App. ("Offload App" keeps your data, so it is not a deletion.)

This cannot be undone. Erased progress, stars and streaks cannot be recovered. If your account still exists you can sign in again to restore the server copy; if you deleted the account as well, you start over from the beginning.

Advertising identifier (held by Google)

The app uses Google AdMob for its banner ads. The advertising identifier and related data are processed by Google independently; we neither receive nor retain them. That identifier stays on your device even after you delete your account or the app, so use the routes below to exercise your rights over it.

  • Android — Settings › Google › All services › Ads › Delete advertising ID
  • iOS — Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking › turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track
  • For requests about data Google holds, follow the process in the Google Privacy Policy.
