Nansérok: Age of Four Kings

Four kingdoms, one age. Turn-based strategy over 41 provinces.

What if the heroes of four kingdoms had met in a single age? Jumong and Wang Geon on the same board; Eulji Mundeok and Gyebaek in the same war. This is an alternate history using the fictional "Cheonha" era, not a real chronology.

What is Nansérok?

One month, one turnthe management game

From Pyongyang to Seorabeol, 41 provinces make the board. Clear land, raise dikes, give grain to win hearts. Fill the storehouse, conscript, drill, and cross the border.

Orders are carried out by generals. How many hold a city decides how much that city can do this month. People are the state's real strength.

Grain decides the warhex battles

Infantry, cavalry and archers answer one another on a 7×9 hex field. Cavalry close the distance with a charge, archers gain range from high ground, infantry brace and hold. Stratagems — confusion, morale strikes, fire attacks — are now in play too.

Break the gate in a siege. Winter freezes the rivers; summer shortens a bowshot. And the granary — take it, and hunger eats the defenders' morale day by day. If nothing is settled within 30 days, the attacker must withdraw.

Names you find by searching447 generals

Search a province and you may turn up someone hiding there. Yi Sun-sin, Gang Gam-chan, Jeong Do-jeon are out in the wild; so are Caesar, Genghis Khan, Hannibal and Joan of Arc. New talent appears every New Year.

Finding them is only the start. Too little standing and they refuse you. Leave them idle and they wander off. Generals with low loyalty vanish in the night, and governors raise their own banner.

A realm that moves on its owndiplomacy and events

Rival lords decide for themselves. They form alliances and break them, send gifts, sow discord, buy your generals away, or offer surrender to a weaker power and absorb it. Provinces you neglect break into riots; skip the dikes and the floods come; winter brings famine — and when disaster strikes, it's the governor's call whether to open the granaries.

One realm, one throneunification and empire

Any power holding 60% of the land draws the rest into a defensive alliance. Cross 80% and outlast that alliance, and you can proclaim an emperor to unify the realm. Every campaign ends with a chronicle — the reign's length, its battles, the greats you recruited.
